ELITIGATION
The Integrated Electronic Litigation System (eLitigation) deals with the increasing use of sophisticated technology in the Courts.
In 2000, the Electronic Filing System (EFS) revolutionised the conduct of civil litigation by ending the Court documents to be prepared and filed electronically.
There after, the users of the system have become more tech-savvy and at the same time technology has advanced with more user friendly features.Realising the importance of keeping the system closely connected and flexible to meet the ongoing demands, the Judiciary has taken a step to introduce modern technologies and extend the capabilities of EFS with the execution of the eLitigation.
eLitigation is an integrated system that is formed to replace the Electronic Filing System (EFS). It is made as such to assist Law Firms and the Courts throughout the entire processes of taking leagal action from filing of electronic Court documents, to schedule the hearings, billings, collections and to maintain financial records of transactions. With the use of the eLitigation system, Law Firms and Courts can work together on a transparent, seamless and safe environment making maximum use on the connectivity and accessibility of the Internet.
The scope of eLitigation is as follows:
Electronic Filing Service
This eases the Law Firm Users to file and submit their documents electronically to the higher level of Courts. Filing of cases and other important and useful documents are more likely to be in accordance with Court rules and standards as pre-defined templates are used.
Case Information Repository
The Case Information Repository lets individual Law Firm Users to enjoy a virtual storage of all files and documents that are related to the cases they are handling. The repository allows them to easily Issue or get the neccessary documents, update and store it for future reference incase a similar case appears.
eService
This allows a lawyer to electronically and cost-effectively pass on Court documents to other Lawyers. It reduces the time spent on giving Court documents through the means of papers or files.
Notifications and Alerts
Law Firm Users get updated about their cases they are handling.Calendaring and Hearing Dates
This allows the law firm users to see and select the available hearing dates within the specified timing given by the Courts.
Reports Generation
Reports about financial transactions on a specific case can automatically come up based on the criteria set by the user. Charges on the Case-level will also be available.
Court Replies and Notifications (Mailbox)
This allows the users to see and work on the list of recent cases that they have filed and submitted.
The functioning of the search allows the user to look for cases that they have filed.For Quick Access, it gives the users to perform certain actions directly as an option, such as filing a new case, document or requests.
